Caller claimed to be from my bank, querying some credit card transactions. When I asked which card this related to, the credit card was one that was cancelled two months ago because of an attempted fraudulent transaction!

Rang purporting to be from HM Revenue, recorded message, just ended no requirement to press any button, apparently about mail not being delivered, tried ringing back, number not recognised.

Called by this number and was stated as being from the fraud department with the co-operative bank. They informed me that a payment was presented to john Lewis in Liverpool and wanted to know if I had made the attempt. They appeared pretty convincing and even new my address and card details. They wanted me to respond to a text message so that I could change some security details via my phone and wanted me to do this instantly. This made me suspicious. I asked them to phone me back some hours later. in the interim, I called my bank to ask if their fraud department had called me and they informed me that they had not. The number did try again but I did not answer it. I have now blocked them. I suspect that if I have responded to their text, my phone and account would have been comprised. Be alert Folks.
