A text from this number purports to come from the DWP (Department for Work and Pensions) warning that I haven’t claimed my Winter Fuel Allowance and must do so before 23 June (date I received the text). Let’s be clear, one does not have to claim for the Winter Fuel Allowance unless it is a new claim, nor do the DWP text you on the very last day you were supposed to have claimed this benefit. So, in other words, it’s a SCAM! Do Not reply or phone, as you will be charged premium rates. DO NOT PROVIDE BANK DETAILS OR EVEN YOUR NAME OR ADDRESS.
